New PvP Event Launched in Pokemon TCG Pocket, Runs Alongside Two Other Events
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has introduced a new player-versus-player (PvP) event, the Genetic Apex Emblem event, which will run until the end of November. This new event offers players a chance to earn Emblems based on their PvP performance, and it is being held simultaneously with two other ongoing events: the Wonder Pick system event and a CPU battle event.
Since its release on October 30, Pokémon TCG Pocket has seen remarkable success, surpassing 10 million downloads just one day after launch. In its first four days, the game generated $12 million in revenue, averaging $3 million per day. While the game is free-to-play, players can purchase a premium pass and Gold to speed up card pack openings, with a daily limit of two packs (three with a premium pass).
The Genetic Apex Emblem event, which runs until November 28, rewards players with Pack Hourglasses for participating in battles, while Shinedust is awarded for winning matches. Players who rack up wins can also showcase their Emblems on their profiles. However, following community feedback, some players have expressed frustration with the PvP experience, citing the dominance of meta decks and requesting a ranked mode. The Genetic Apex Emblem event does not seem to include a skill-based matchmaking system, so the quality of matches may vary significantly.
For players who still need to create a strong deck for PvP, the ongoing Lapras event provides an opportunity to earn a promotional pack, which includes the Lapras EX card. This card can be added to a deck for use in the Genetic Apex Emblem event. Though the PvP event focuses on cosmetic rewards, players can still earn Pack Hourglasses for participating, making it accessible even without a powerful deck.
Currently, three events are active in Pokémon TCG Pocket: the Genetic Apex Emblem event, the Wonder Pick event, and the Lapras EX Drop event. These limited-time events offer players additional incentives to log in and continue progressing while waiting for new packs.
